The evidentiary value of data from lawful intercept depends on a formal proof of integrity between acquisition and courtroom presentation. Existing systems protected archives through encryption but could not structurally rule out retroactive tampering — a weakness routinely raised by defence counsel, putting probative material at risk of exclusion. The system implements a patented log-certification method that applies a proprietary standard making any tampering mathematically detectable and the chain verifiable by independent third parties.
Technical traits
Multi-node federation architecture with autonomous district nodes (Rome, Milan, Reggio Calabria, Catanzaro), each equipped with certification services, a local database, and a dedicated HSM. No cross-node access. Central services are limited to a schema registry and an aggregated health dashboard. Only telemetry data — no procedural information — is transmitted to the national tier.
Cryptographic signature per log entry
Every record produced by the intercept probe receives an elliptic-curve signature that embeds a cryptographic reference to the previous log. Tampering with a single node deterministically invalidates every subsequent entry.
Proprietary standard
The log format, signature schema, and anchoring protocol are defined by a Jarvit standard, independent of the persistence technology adopted by each district.
Immutable persistence
The persistence layer is selected according to context: directed acyclic graph, permissioned ledger, or public registry. Immutability is the requirement; the technology is a choice.
The system delivers four distinct layers of assurance. Liability relief: the intercept operator is freed from chain-of-custody responsibility. Third-party attestation: data is certified by an independent party, carrying autonomous evidentiary weight. Courtroom evidence: the chain of custody can be presented as objective, non-testimonial proof. Data coherence: integrity is preserved across the full lifecycle, from capture to courtroom production.
